Friday night found Donald McIntosh in action at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the two-day King of the Mountain Championship. Drawing 34 Southern All Star Series entries, Donald set the time to beat in time trials with a 16.264 second lap, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the opening night feature. The following night, McIntosh edged his way into the $7,000-to-win finale with a third place finish in his heat race. Rolling off 10th, Donald was an early retiree from the 50-lapper on the sixth lap.
